Zablaće is a town located next to the
coastline and near Solaris Holiday Resort. It is only
9 km away from the town of Šibenik. In the Middle Ages,
Zablaće was famous for its salt works where inhabitants
of Šibenik met their needs for salt and sold the rest.
However, with time, inhabitants of Zablaće abandoned
traditional salt production and salt works closed little
by little. Even today, the reminders of old salt works
remained in the names Velika jezera (the Great Lakes)
and Male solane (Little Salt Works), also called mud
thanks to its curative mud, which was medically proved
effective in curing rheumatism.
This pleasant, quiet, coastal town is developing faster and faster owing to the
beauty of nature and the vicinity of a bigger town. Many
family houses and a camp provide accommodation for guests
of Zablaće. Zablaće and Šibenik are connected by regular
bus services.
