Tribunj is a typicall dalmatian town characterised by narrow streets and close-built houses. Old part od the town is build on an island; a stone bridge has been build later on and connects the island with the mainland where a new town developed. The oldest written document dates back to 1464 and mentions the old name of Tribunj – Triubahunj. Old st. Nicholas church was built in 1452. On the st. Nicholas hill a defence fortress against Turks named Jurjevgrad was built in 1650. During the Venetian reign Tribunj was fortified by walls, the remains of which can still be seen. The curch of Virgin Mary from the year 1435 is situated in the east, on the way to Vodice.

Inhabitants of Tribunj, apart from turism, mainly engage in fishing and agriculture, and they are renowed for growing and production of quality olive oil. Tribunj has maintained its architectural tradition and originality. In lively small harbours fishing boats can be seen hauling fresh fish every day. Peace and beauty of this place was known to famous artists who chose Tribunj as a place where they could work in their ateliers in old-fashioned renovated houses, inspired by the harmony surrounding them. A Tribunj festivity is organised during summer months and features a funny donkey race.
